We just had a wonderful weekend together. Lots of food and laughs intermixed with all that’s good and oh-so corny about being in love. So why have I been so surly since you left? Nothing feels right and my comfortable bed just doesn’t feel as welcoming anymore.
I’m already counting the days till you come back.

“Soon, my dear girl. Soon” I keep whispering to myself. “He’ll be here again and you can wrap him in your arms, kiss his cheek softly and tell him you’re his forever.”

Birthday perfection

  • time with my honey
  • eating yummy food with great friends
  • a beautiful new purple scarf
  • delectable paper goods
  • a sweet new mouse pad
  • cakes, a cupcake with purple sprinkles and dark chocolate
  • more film for my Fuji Instax Mini
  • beautiful framed print by Edwin Ushiro

I decided that as a birthday present to myself and my fiance, I would stop getting on the scale everyday. I think I was making both of us crazy so sanity for 2010 it is.

I am a blog whore

I love blogs. Can’t stop reading them. I’ll follow one link after another. Sometimes, I’ll read several blogs in a row, even forgetting that hours have passed and that I’m supposed to be working from home. Dammit.

Oh well. This evening’s flavor was food blogs. Here’s the list. http://eatdrinknbmerry.blogspot.com

Okay this last one is not really just a food blog cause she covers fashion too. This girl is someone many of us would like to be: young, with money, oodles of time, made cooking and sewing skills AND an incredibly refined taste to boot. You kind of want to hate her but I’d rather be friends. I’d bet you a dollar that you can’t leave that blog without being impressed with her mad kitchen skills. The Thanksgiving meal she made looks OUTSTANDING!

I just got engaged in September. Every once in a while, the knowledge hits me and I get so excited! Wheeee!!!!!

I’ve been having really vivid dreams lately. The other night Dev Patel of Slumdog Millionaire fame and I were both crime fighters but from opposing teams. I hated his guts because he was such a cocky bastard.

The only problem with seeing too much is that it makes you insane.

Well, that about sums it up doesn’t it? Good night tumblrverse.

Yesterday, Brent and I rounded out our Memorial weekend with a walk to my favor[](http://withoutmelissa.tumblr.com/)ite Haight Ashbury bookstore. He rode his skateboard, circling back every ten yards so he wouldn’t get to far ahead of me. Later, we shared nachos and a soda while reading our books at the lunch counter.

I think there’s something really beautiful and brave about being in love and not being afraid to show it to the world. Too often we close our hearts when things start to get too hard or times are not fun enough. It’s too easy to always have one foot out the door just in case the other person cuts you loose. To find joy and bliss in the big and small moments and to share them again and again are the kinds of gifts that keep giving. If melissa were a dude, I’d probably be in love with her too.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Snowberries. I bought a small bunch a few weeks ago to keep me company at my bedside. They’re not as pretty anymore due to the heat, but they sure lasted a while. I’ll admit I was tempted to pop a berry or two.
